This is the presentation I and Andy Pipes from Channel 4 delivered at the Social Media Marketing conference on the 17th June. In the initial stage of this project, outlined in this presentation, we seeded the Chop or Not game created by 4iP online, trying to build plays of the game. On the 21st June the game got it’s outing on TV, being featured on the Dispatches special ‘How to save £100 billion live’. This is where it got interesting. With our applied technology team at NixonMcInnes, we built some apps that analysed the twitter conversation in real time around the show while it was on. For more information on this and some pretty pictures of the development of this app see my colleague Steve’s blog post here.Case Study: The Chop or Not Campaign, Channel 4 & NixonMcInnes

My best friend Marianne is about 8 1/2 months pregnant and throughout her pregnancy we’ve been discussing ideas for photos we wanted to get of her when she was nice and blooming. We scheduled a date a couple of weekends ago, crossing our fingers it would be good weather, as most of the photos were planned for outdoors. The morning she was driving down it was torrential rain… we had to rethink and come up with some new ideas quickly. After a quick squizz around my flat looking for well lit spots and thinking of simpler ideas we could do indoors Maz arrived and we proceeded to have a lovely long relaxed lazy day indoors, drinking tea, looking for ideas online and occasionally taking a photo. Turns out we got a lovely set of photos at the end of the day - a nice mix of sweet and wholesome through to sexy and subversive. I think we captured the spirit of Marianne quite well!

My Ricoh 500 G, bought at a little junk shop on mine and alex’s first cornwall holiday. Brings back happy memories.
(I got it to work if you’re wondering, but it was all lightleaky and needs new seals..)
New iPhone arrived today… late to the party I know.. goodbye android or rather htc, you just didn’t work for me.
The first app I installed was hipstamatic, a lovely old camera app. I’m currently playing at home taking pictures of stuff..
RIP Mr Fish
My beloved cat, my best friend and sidekick Mr Fish was found dead by neighours in the early hours of Friday morning. He had been missing since Thursday night and we put out missing cat signs on Saturday morning and within minutes got several phone calls with various bits of information about what happened to him. I can’t even begin to describe the pain and emptiness I am feeling right now, he was my life companion right from a kitten and for the last 7 years and when I was at home (or outside by the square in recent months) he literally was always by my side - wanting to sit with me, cuddle, watch me if I was cooking or doing something that didn’t allow lap space, sit on my papers and chase my loose wires and ties and always knowing when I was sad and giving me extra cuddles. Even when I felt most alone, I always felt ok as I had my best friend beside me at all times.
He was the most happy, relaxed, charismatic, friendly, playful, funny, patient and loving cat, and everyone who met him, cat person or not, was touched by him and intoxicated by his charisma, comedy moments and loving nature. I will always miss you Fishy, and am so so grateful for the time I had with you.

Just rediscovered this with Ross & Claire who popped round for an unexpected evening of food and cat videos - this was taken 2 years ago in my old house, when Mr Fish used to go into a weird trance thing when he saw birds out of my bedroom window. It’s long and at somepoints tedious I’m sure but keep watching for some sweet highlights…
Girl With Braces (via uwabakiboy)
I stumbled across this guy on flickr, who had found a load of paintings he’d done in the 70’s of kids with braces. I love them, especially this one.
I’m just mesmerised by this photo; feels very spirited, raw and natural. This is my niece Daisy, taken by my other very talented niece Bryony.

For some reason this is one of my most interesting on flickr, even though it’s had only 3 views and no faves or comments. Would love to know how the flickr algorythm works
